Checks and Balances
Congress has a lot of power to pass bills, but what if the law is unconstitutional? We know the checks and balance system is used to make sure that one branch of government isn’t overpowering or too strong. The congress can pass laws and enforce them, but the president of the United States can overrule that and veto or cancel the law, and then if the congress wants to really pass that law, they can pass it with a two-thirds majority vote. The Supreme Court has enough power and can review previously passed laws and eliminate them if they believe that they are unconstitutional.
